Right Here, Right Now: The Monoscene
Participants: Level 1
Instructor: Amy Moule from Melbourne/Australia
The workshop will be taught in English
When we first get into improv, we start by playing short scenes. If one fails: no problem – we just try again! That's what helps us stay playful and happy, and deal with pressure. There are formats, however, where we can’t simply quit and move on to the next scene. One of these is the monoscene, which takes place in one location and can last up to fifty minutes. The skills that we have trained become all the more important: making bold offers, committing to our choices, maintaining a character, and having an distinct attitude towards others. And this is exactly why learning the monoscene is a superb way of of fine-tuning our skills and bringing our improv to the next level.
In this workshop, Amy Moule, will give you new angles on improv fundamentals like using the environment, making stronger choices, simplicity, status and attitude. You will explore techniques that are especially useful to the monoscene, like entries/exits or travelling through time within a space. Last but not least, you will practice how to stay committed to the process, keep the lightness and the fun and make staying in one space feel like freedom!
