Es ist der Gladiator*innenkampf des improvisierten Theaters. Denn wer am Ende triumphierend im Scheinwerferlicht steht, entscheidet niemand anderes als das Publikum. Keine Sorge, verwundet wird dabei niemand. Doch der Einsatz ist hoch: Nur ein*e Schauspieler*in kann das heiß begehrte Preisgeld in Höhe von fünf Euro für sich beanspruchen – und den Titel „Maestro“! Auch dieses Jahr eröffnen wir das Würzburger Improtheaterfestival mit diesem Show-Klassiker und bitten die Crème de la Crème unserer Festivalgäste auf die Bühne. Mögen die Spiele beginnen!

Ein Sturm tobt! Immer mehr Reisende finden Schutz in einer kleinen Herberge... im flackernden Licht und unter klappernden Fensterläden fängt plötzlich einer an, eine Geschichte zu erzählen. Eine tolle Möglichkeit, mit Fremden so die Nacht zu überstehen. Plötzlich erinnern sich mehrere an die Geschichte. Jemand war sogar selbst dabei! Doch hoppla, da fehlt doch die Hälfte. Und überhaupt, das Ende ist komisch. Jemand anders soll erzählen. Jetzt stimmt der Anfang nicht mehr. Und wo kommt die neue Heldin her? Wer hat hier eigentlich recht und was ist bloß heiße Luft? Wer hat die Wahrheit und wer den Überblick? Nicht nur draußen geht es drunter und drüber.

In this show six individuals find themselves in a room together. They have never met before. All that they know of each other is one thing: They're single. While some of them are eager to finally end their solitary suffering, others are more reluctant to be matched up. Over the course of the night tension rises as they challenge each others' views on what it means to be single... and wonder if there is a way to be single without being singled out.

Die Prinzessin trifft den Prinz, sie verlieben sich - dann gibt es ein paar Hindernisse und am Ende leben sie glücklich bis ans Ende ihrer Tage. So funktioniert Liebe im Märchen - aber in der Realität? Da bröckelt die romantische Märchenwelt. Da betrügt die Prinzessin, bekommt der Prinz nen Burn-Out und sie streiten über die Zahnpastatube. Liebe tut oft weh und ist harte Arbeit - nicht wirklich wie im Märchen. In Märchen.Ende. begeben sich die Doppelgänger Lena Breuer und Nick Maaß auf die Suche nach der Liebe, nach ihrem Scheitern, nach den Fehlern und den großen Entschuldigungen und improvisieren ein Stück rund um ein Päärchen, dessen Märchen zu Ende ist. Oder auch nicht.

Sei es Schicksal, Karma oder Zufall: Wie die Zukunft aussieht, kann keiner sagen. Oder doch? Diego Ingold (Palma de Mallorca) begibt sich in seiner Solo-Show What You Want To Know mit eindrucksvoller körperlicher Improvisation auf eine übersinnliche Reise ins Ungewisse. Mit Tarotkarten sagt er dem Publikum die Zukunft voraus – ohne dabei große Worte zu verlieren: Was erwartet mich? Ein Lottogewinn? Ein folgenreiches Date? Oder der Kampf ums Überleben nach einem Flugzeugabsturz? Wirf einen Blick in deine Zukunft!

Claudio (Luis de Pablo ) returns to his mother's village where the smell of the countryside, the fresh air and cheeky Cupid enter through the window of his heart. From that moment on he begins a musical, unpredictable and passionate journey in search of love. Does love have a final destination? Is love the solution to end loneliness? What exactly is love? In this improvised show, a single performer creates the entire story which is all about the sweetest of feelings. And what better way to celebrate this than through music?

The play is performed by Luis de Pablo Olivenza from Madrid/Spain.

It’s simple questions that let us dive deeper. What is connection? How can we tell we’re in relation to each other or anything? In Knitting connection becomes visible by a climbing rope on stage. A 70 meters long metaphor and an actual prop, the rope indicates closeness, loops and distance. Sara Šoukal and Olivija Grafenauer weave stories, swing from inspiration to action, tie spot-on knots and hold on to their discoveries. A show exploring physicality, offering bold images, fast switches and a desire to dive deeper.

Inspired by David Mitchell's critically acclaimed novel, Aree Witoelar (Norway / Indonesia) developed the format “Cloud Atlas” which will be performed by the workshop ensemble.

Moment by moment their story gets written as the improvisers fill in the Blank.
Like a raindrop under a microscope, like a galaxy in front of the telescope or just like a place next door viewed through the window: only seemingly omnipresent and all the more unique when it opens up to the amazed.
