Double-Feature: David Lynch & The Origami Swan
Saturday, October 27th 2018 // Cairo Theatersaal // 8.30 PM
From bizarro world to a theatrical exploration of quantum multiverse theory // In English
This show brings you two formats that will get under your skin.
First, enjoy a journey into the universe of David Lynch, courtesy of Berlin‘s Scratch Theater.
Lynch is renowned for work that is threatening, poetic, and non-linear. You will meet bizarre and unforgettable characters, and dive into surreal worlds. You will feel fear. Are you dreaming, or are you starring in someone else’s nightmare? Don't worry, you'll be alright. Probably.
In the Japanese art of origami a single piece of paper contains a world of possibilities with each fold guiding the material towards its final form. Yet even as it stands completed, the origami swan still holds within it the possibilities of what might have been. In the show’s second half Ella Galt (BIG, Barcelona) and Dan Seyfried (La Carpe Haute, Strasbourg) present a theatrical exploration of quantum multiverse theory in which every choice you've ever made and never made exists in an unimaginably vast ensemble of parallel universes. As the reach of our possible worlds unfolds before us, we discover that the decisions we make are at once intensely powerful, and totally meaningless.
