Linklater: Freeing The Natural Voice
Level: No level, open for everyone
Instructor: Sylvie Polz from Munich/Germany
The workshop will be taught in English
Duration: 16 hours
As improvisers we are creating stories on the go and share them with our audiences in the most accessible way - with our voices. But how often do we actually pay attention to our vocal organ? It attracts our attention when we feel sore after a show or when people in the last row had a hard time hearing us. But we rarely understand it as a resource in reaching the audience not only acoustically but emotionally. The voice gives weight to our words. Time to give it a closer look.
In this workshop we will work from breath and sound to let the voice relax and find itself. Working with images will help the voice open up, so that it can be affected by our ideas and feelings. The larynx releases and allows the voice to travel freely and authentically, richer than we might have thought possible. This workshop provides you with the necessary tools to continue the training on your own and develop a voice that expresses more with less words.
Linklater is a technique that has been developed specifically for actors. The book “Freeing the natural voice” by K. Linklater is a standard reference in all renowned acting schools in England and the US.
